RV Stewards' Report - Clinton McDonald
Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have received a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) confirming that a prohibited substance was detected in a sample collected from the Clinton McDonald trained racehorse, Angel Capital (the Horse). The report relates to a blood sample taken from the Horse prior to it being scheduled to compete in Heat 6, the New Zealand Bloodstock 3YO & Up trial (CI3- Open), over 800 metres at the Cranbourne official trials on 26 August 2024.

RV Stewards' Report - Jan Brueghel - Lexus Melbourne Cup
Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards, acting on specialist veterinary advice, have today withdrawn Jan Brueghel from the entries for the 2024 Lexus Melbourne Cup (3200m) to be run at Flemington next Tuesday, 5 November. In accordance with the conditions of the race, Jan Brueghel was presented at the University of Melbourne Equine Centre in Werribee on Saturday, 26 October for compulsory CT scans of its distal limbs. Okita Soushi penalised for Lexus Melbourne Cup
Racing Victoria (RV) Head of Handicapping, David Hegan, has announced that Friday night’s Group 2 Ladbrokes Moonee Valley Gold Cup (2500m) winner Okita Soushi has received a 1kg penalty in the $8.56 million Lexus Melbourne Cup (3200m). The Ciaron Maher-trained import, who will be ridden by Jamie Kah in the Melbourne Cup, has been lifted from his original weight of 50kg to 51kg. It is 0.5kg less than the horse carried to 11th place in the 2023 Melbourne Cup when trained by Joseph O’Brien. Hegan

VOBIS Premier Race Series takes off at The Valley
The 2024-25 VOBIS Premier Race Series kicks off tonight (Friday, 25 October) at The Valley with the Western General Bodyworks VOBIS Gold Star (1500m) set to feature under lights on Ladbrokes Cox Plate eve. The VOBIS Gold Star, which is run under set weights and penalties for horses aged three years and older, boasts $175,000 in prizemoney plus a VOBIS Silver Bonus of $30,000. A field of nine horses will face the starter at 8.45pm
