James Scobie was one of Australia's pre-eminent racehorse trainers. He originally combined his training with riding over the jumps and won many feature races including the 1887 Grand National Steeple.
He was however to become one of our leading trainers and scored many wins in Australia's major races including:
Four Melbourne Cups
Eight VRC Derbies
12 Ascot Vales Stakes
10 Bendigo Cups
Scobie was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
