After a short career as a jockey, Jack Holt became a trainer in 1902. From 1918, he dominated Victoria's training ranks, winning the Trainers' Premiership 13 times.
Holt trained winners of the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup (two), W.S. Cox Plate (six) and the VRC Derby. He also won the Memsie Stakes 11 times, Caulfield Stakes eight times and Standish Hcp eight times.
The most famous horses to pass through Holt's hands were Eurythmic, Hall Mark, Heroic and Chanak.
Holt was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
