About
Throughout his long racing career, Tie the Knot endeared himself to racegoers as a versatile and fast finishing champion. The striking chestnut matched his good looks with his deeds on the track. He recorded wins in stakes races ranging in distance from 1200m-3200m and was voted the Australian Champion Stayer for the 1999-2000 season. Bred and raced by Sandy Tait and Jill Nivison, and trained at Warwick Farm by Guy Walter, Tie the Knot’s career record of 21 wins – 13 at Group 1 level – included consecutive Sydney Cups (1998 and 1999), Tancred Stakes (1999 and 2000) and Rawson Stakes (2000 and 2001). He was retired in 2002 after entering the history books as the first horse to win the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes four years in a row. 'He is tough mentally and physically, and has a great attitude.' - Guy Walter (trainer)
