The cameras have been rolling in recent months to gain exclusive behind-the-scenes footage for a one-off feature documentary on the Victorian thoroughbred racing industry.
With a provisional title of Miles In Front, the documentary is a joint venture between Racing Victoria and Entain which aims to attract a new audience to the sport of kings and queens.
The documentary will track every move of some of the key players in the build-up to this year’s Sharp EIT All-Star Mile, which takes place at The Valley next Saturday (18 March).
They include jockey Jamie Kah, who won the 2022 All-Star Mile on Zaaki, and trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior, who will be hoping I’m Thunderstruck can go one better than last year when he lines up in the fifth edition of Australia’s richest mile race.
“I’ve been loving these behind-the-scenes documentaries and I jumped at the chance to be a part of one about a sport I love very much,” said Kah.
“I’m all for attracting new people to the industry, and I hope this documentary can bring a new insight. After winning the All-Star Mile last year, I’m hoping I can go back-to-back this year but either way I’m very excited to be a part of it.”
I’m Thunderstruck’s opponents include The Inevitable, and the documentary charts the preparations of the pint-sized Tassie champ who has lifted himself off the canvas and is now hoping to land a knockout blow on some of the heavyweights of the turf.
Featuring in-depth interviews and rarely-seen vision of the day-to-day routine inside some of the country’s leading stables, Miles In Front is set to take viewers right into the heart of the action when it airs in the build-up to next year’s All-Star Mile.
