What is VOBIS Sires?

The VOBIS Sires program delivers valuable support to the Victorian breeding and racing industry.

Breeding to a VOBIS Sires stallion or buying a yearling by one of the nominated VOBIS Sires stallions provides an opportunity to race in two exclusive races worth $1.5 million in prizemoney.

The progeny of stallions nominated to the VOBIS Sires program are VOBIS Platinum eligible once upgraded to VOBIS Gold and will be eligible to compete in two exclusive races on Victorian Owners and Breeders Raceday at Caulfield on Saturday 15 March 2025, the $1 million VOBIS Platinum Showdown and the $500,000 VOBIS Platinum Guineas.

In addition, VOBIS Sires progeny are able to be upgraded to VOBIS Platinum, and eligible for VOBIS Platinum which offers $7.5 million in additional $30,000 VOBIS Platinum vouchers on 250+ VOBIS Gold bonus races.

Prizemoney and bonuses

VOBIS Sires has two races exclusive to VOBIS Platinum eligible horses. 

The $1 million VOBIS Platinum Showdown 2YO 1200m 

$500,000 VOBIS Platinum Guineas 3YO 1600m

To be eligible the horse must be nominated to VOBIS Silver, upgraded to VOBIS Gold plus be the progeny of a VOBIS Sires Stallion.

Stallion Nominators Bonus

Racing Victoria will pay the following Stallion Nominators Bonuses:

A $50,000 stallion nominator’s bonus, split between placegetters of the VOBIS Platinum Showdown 

A $25,000 stallion nominators bonus, split between placegetters of the VOBIS Platinum Guineas.

Is my horse eligible?

Eligibility for VOBIS Platinum horses is linked to nomination of the stallion to the VOBIS Sires Program in the year of conception.
