The Recruitment Process
Racing Victoria recognises that the selection of a new team member is not only a major investment for us, but also for you.
We go to great lengths to ensure that our recruitment process is respectful, free from bias, objective, fair and transparent so that together we can form a partnership of lasting success. For every opportunity at Racing Victoria, there is a corresponding assessment and selection process.
Whilst many of our processes will be similar, they are all uniquely matched to the requirements of the role. Most processes will include at least:
• Submission of your resume and cover letter for review
• 2 behavioural based interviews
• Reference Checking
• National Police Check and 100 Point Identity Check
• Racing Victoria Probity Check
Depending on the role, the process may also include:
• Personality Profiling

• On the job accreditations (ie raceday roles involving horse handling)
If a test, check of further assessment is needed, full instructions and time to prepare will be provided.

Why do I have to do a National Police and 100 Point ID Check?
In keeping with our commitment to maintaining the integrity of the thoroughbred racing industry, and under the Victorian Racing Industry Single Code of Practice Policy, our employees are required to complete probity checks and return a satisfactory outcome as a minimum prior to an employment offer being made.How are job opportunities with Racing Victoria advertised?
Our career opportunities are advertised on our website and this is best place to keep watch if you are interested in a career with us. You may also see positions advertised online (including LinkedIn) and print publications.I have submitted an application what happens now?
You should expect to hear from a member of Racing Victoria’s People & Culture team after the closing date. If your application is short listed there are a number of next steps outlined (see the recruitment process outlined earlier).How long until I find out the outcome of my application?
Once applications have closed we will review all applications received. We try to screen all applicants within a few of days of the role closing though for some roles this may take slightly longer due to the volume of applicants. We will notify you via email if there are any significant delays.Will I be required to undertake testing as part of the recruitment process?
Testing depends on the role, you may be asked to complete a series of skills-based or online psychometric assessments; this will assist us in gathering further information about your application. We will let you know if this is relevant to your application.What reference details do I need to provide?
You will need to provide two relevant referees. A relevant referee is someone you have reported to (such as a team leader, supervisor or manager) and who can comment on your performance. The referee must be from a recent role (ideally no more than five years ago).We conduct our reference checks via Xref which is an online form, you would be expected to contact your referees prior to ensure they are happy with being contacted. We will advise you when we get to this stage and you will be sent a link where you add in the details for your referees.
